Police official: 3 officers killed in Pa. shooting

What is going on?? 3 more officers killed? I really hope this isn’t a trend. This country is sliding down a precarious slope….PITTSBURGH – A man opened fire on officers responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning, killing three of them, before barricading himself in the home, a police official said. Three officers were killed, said a police official at the scene who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. At least five officers were wounded, police spokeswoman Diane Richard said. It’s not clear if that included the slain officers. …Read more […..]

Regarding Oakland P.D.

I cannot verify the exact source of this letter but it is definitely worth posting as it has a powerful message.Thought you guys would be interested in a group email I received from an off-duty Oakland cop that responded to the incident: Share it with whomeverOn Saturday March 21, I was training at the Academy, coincidentally with some aspiring police officers who are currently in an academy. At about 130pm or so I received a phone call. I looked down at my caller ID and saw that it was my sergeant. I thought to myself, I’m getting called out again.. Chicago Police officers protest at City Hall

Chicago PD showed unity in marching on city hall. It is great to see officers united and standing together. This seems to be a rare occurence as many officers are afraid to stand up for their rights–my experience at Northlake PD is a prime example. Thank goodness that nobody was killed and kudos to the great job these officers did!SWAT Officerwith Lt. Dan Marcou One of the officers at the scene in Richland County, Wisconsin said it was “like a war zone.” The scene was reminiscent of the SLA shootout in Los Angeles, except this gun battle took place around the crest of a hill, on the wooded, junk-littered property of a self-proclaimed survivalist named Robert C. Bayliss. It all started during the afternoon of March 31, …Read more […..]

Post-critical incident conversations: Be careful what you say, and to whom you say it

This is something that every officer should be knowledgeable about. It is not something that is paid much attention to in a young officer’s career. It is gone over in the Police Academy but not in depth and it is not something that I really worried about. If you are ever involved in a critical incident it is imperative that you be aware of this. If you are not aware of all your rights then get a union rep asap before answering any questions from superiors.Police Liability and Litigationwith Terrence P. Dwyer, Esq.
