LAPD officers who complained about ticket quotas are awarded $2 million

This reminds me of a previous employer, the Northlake Police Department in Illinois, led by Chief Dennis Koletsos. We were told that these were called standards as in performance standards. Officers were disciplined if they didn’t meet the “standards” which included numbers of tickets. The veteran motorcycle officers alleged in a lawsuit that they were punished with bogus performance reviews, threats of reassignment and other forms of harassment after objecting to demands from commanding officers that they write a certain number of tickets each day. Ticket quotas are illegal under state law. There’s a fine …Read more […..]

Deputy Chief and Elmhurst Resident Stir Outcry to Prevent Cop-killer from Walking Free

An excellent job by Norm Nissen, Northlake Deputy Police Chief! Northlake Deputy Chief Norman Nissen Jr. points to a photo of his father, Officer Norman Nissen, with Officer John Nagle who was killed during a bank robbery in 1967 Every officer at the Northlake Police Station knows of Det. Sgt. John Nagle and Patrolman Anthony Perri, Northlake officers who gave their lives in the line of duty. The officers are memorialized inside the department. Northlake Deputy Chief Norman Nissen has an especially deep knowledge of the case. A photo of Sgt. Nagle with Nissen’s father, a former Northlake officer …Read more […..]

NEWS: Northlake sues insurance company after losing employment suit

More money for the City of Northlake to pay out regarding lawsuits against the Northlake Police Department and Police Chief Dennis Koletsos…… September 9, 2010 By MARK LAWTON [email protected] In a kind of chain reaction, a lawsuit against the city of Northlake has led the city to file a lawsuit of its own. In January 2008, Daniel Rasic filed a lawsuit against the city of Northlake, Police Chief Dennis Koletsos and the Police and Fire Commission. Rasic was hired as a police officer by the city in 1999. He filed suit against the city in 2008, claiming the city had fired him for taking family …Read more […..]

Lee, A True Cop’s Cop

Working at the Northlake Police Department during the years 1990-2003,  I worked with some real goofballs and some fine officers. One such fine officer, not only in my opnion but in the majority of officers–both current and former– as well as citizens of the public, is a guy named Lee. I think the first time I came into contact with Lee when i was 16. My friends and I were driving my 1968 Buick Electra 225 convertible–with the top down of course–through Fairview Memorial Cemetery at night. I remember it clearly as my buddy said that a car with it’s lights off was coming towards us. I tried to gun it but the car …Read more […..]

The City of Northlake and Police Chief Koletsos Lose Lawsuit

It seems the(in my opinion) infamously arrogant and cocky Dennis Koletsos and his equally ignorant employer have lost a lawsuit. This was a long time coming and I am sure they are feeling very good now. LOL This guy has been, in my opinion, running rampant in the Northlake Police Department for years now. It was only a matter of time that something like this would happen. If he testified at trial I would have loved to have seen that! He gets flustered easily and turns red when he gets pressured.Quite comical. I wonder what the residents of Northlake think now that they will have to pay the burden of this lawsuit. …Read more […..]

And The Survey Says……

In 2002, after much “complaining” about the extremely low morale of the Northlake Police Department and after hearing from the administration that it was only a “few veteran officers” that were starting trouble, we(the FOP Lodge #18) decided to have an employee survey taken. The survey was obtained from a major corporation and altered a bit to apply to a police agency. I highly recommend this survey to any police agency–if the administration will even consider doing a survey! We know how they try to keep negative morale under wraps… After the results were tabulated we set up a meeting with Chief Dennis Koletsos …Read more […..]
