A kindergarten book to help my daughter’s transition to school

Guest post written by Amy Hartwig In lots of bad times in my life, I’ve simply turned to books to help me get through them. Books are always there for you and they’re even free at the library! Needles too say, I really love to read. It’s continued to be my favorite pastime, even in motherhood. So I went looking online for a good book that I could give my daughter in order to help ease the transition into kindergarten this fall. While I was searching online for one that appealed to me, I ran across the site http://WWW.CLEARWirlessinternet4g.com. After I looked through it a little bit, I decided …Read more [.....]

Police Can Put A GPS Device On Your Car Without Your Consent

Court Reaffirms Decision That Rights Weren’t Violated Is your vehicle private property? The answer seems obvious: of course it is. But depending on where you parked it, you might give up some rights in actually keeping it “private.” Police can place a tracking device on your car without a warrant, according to recent judgment in California. Earlier this year, an Oregonian named Juan Pineda-Moreno was convicted of growing marijuana after police tracked his car to a suspected growing site. Pineda-Moreno appealed, citing the fact that on two occasions DEA agents placed tracking devices …Read more [.....]

Our hero: The life of a cop

BY MICHAEL SNEED Sun-Times Columnist What price do we pay when one is sacrificed? We don’t pay. We get fleeced, robbed of a human being who decided to make his life’s work protecting each one of us. Michael Sneed The fact that Officer Thor Soderberg, who was killed with his own weapon Wednesday during an apparent robbery outside a South Side police facility, died a hero is little consolation to his family and friends. A police officer might become a hero when the oath to serve and protect is taken, but there is also another measure of their heroism. It’s …Read more [.....]

Losing a Case in Court, Not to Worry

New officers take their jobs very seriously. I mean, very, very seriously. As time goes on and experience and reality set in this seriousness lessens. Not that an experienced officer isn’t serious about the job it is just that writing traffic tickets aren’t a big deal anymore and losing court cases do bother us as much. In the early years of my career I remember getting very upset if one of my traffic tickets was thrown out or if I lost a trial on one, probably because the goofball judge knew their attorney if they had one. If the person who got off looked at me and gave me a sneering smile as …Read more [.....]

16 Illegal Immigrants Suing Arizona Rancher

Roger Barnett has had his house broken into, trucks stolen, cattle killed and property damaged by illegal immigrants crossing the border via his 22,000-acre Arizona ranch and in 1998, he decided enough was enough. So he began rounding them up at gunpoint and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol. Barnett claims to have captured around 12,000 illegal immigrants attempting to cross his property – a spot along the border that authorities have deemed “an avenue of choice” – into the United States since then.Astonishingly, 16 of those illegally immigrants are now suing Barnett for $32 million in …Read more [.....]

Some Food For Thought

Always a Cop: Once the badge goes on, it never comes off, whether theycan see it, or not. It fuses to the soul throughadversity, fear and adrenaline and no one who has ever wornit with pride, integrity and guts, can ever sleep throughthe ‘call of the wild’ that wafts through bedroomwindows in the deep of the night. When Cops Retire When a good cop leaves the ‘job’ and retires to abetter life, many are jealous, some are pleased and yetothers, who may have already retired, wonder. We wonder ifhe knows what he is leaving behind, because we alreadyknow. We know, for example, that after a lifetime …Read more [.....]

Remind You Of Anyone You Know?

Of course, this story should not surprise anyone who lives in Illinois and pays any attention to politics. Watching this whole thing and hearing some of the statements that this man allegedly was saying(is there a doubt?) reminded me of several people. I am sure we all know someone like this: self absorbed, cocky, arrogant, usually little in physical stature, legends in their own mind types that think they are all powerful and beyond the reach of the law. Well, this is an example of how every dog has their day. Again, remind you of anyone you know?Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich arrested on federal …Read more [.....]
