Officer Fatalities Decline 41% During the First Six Months of 2008
After an unexpected surge in 2007, the number of law enforcement officers killed in the United States plummeted 41 percent during the first six months of this year, reaching the lowest level in more than four decades. That’s the finding of a new Research Bulletin issued by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF), in conjunction with Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.).The groups’ preliminary data show 59 officers died between January 1 and June 30, 2008. Today’s report of officers in Texas being sickened by drug-laced cookies delivered to station houses under the guise that they were sent compliments of MADD serves as an alarming reminder that even food can be used as a weapon against you. Happy Independence(From Tyranny) Day!
Reflecting on the significance of this day reminds me of the sacrifices that were made in creating this great country. We should all never forget those sacrifices that were made, and continue to be made, on our behalf. We benefit from those sacrifices and, unfortunately, many people take them for granted. With that in mind, Happy July 4th!!Speaking of tyranny. I am reminded of my previous employer. The nonsense continues there and, unfortunately, many fine people are negatively affected. Favorite New Movies, Some Firsts, Fireworks!
Emma has a few favorite, and I use this term loosely as she is addicted to them, new movies. The first is Finding Nemo. For about a week she wanted to watch it everyday and usually requested it 2 to 3 times a day!The second is Shrek the Third. She loves the little Shrek babies, the Spanish walking cat, and Hook, the pirate with the hook hand. The third, and recently the new addiction, is Cars. She loves the cars going fast and especially loves the train and trucks. Emma had some firsts recently. The first one was her first booboo. She fell down and got a good scrape on top of her foot.
