A 17-year-old boy died Sunday morning, two days after being shot along with two others in a drive-by in west suburban Northlake.
Three people were shot while standing outside a home near Roy and Victoria streets about 11:50 p.m. Friday, according to Northlake police. At least ten shots were fired from a passing car, which fled north on Roy St. following the shooting, police said.
Rene Murillo-Gomez, who was shot in the head, died Sunday at Rush University Medical Center, police said. Gomez, of the 400 block of North Iowa Avenue in Villa Park, was pronounced dead at 11:25 a.m., according to a Cook County Medical Examinerâ€™s office spokesman, who said the shooting happened on Victoria Drive.
Two others were wounded in the shooting. A 16-year-old Villa Park boy was treated and released from Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst with a gunshot wound to the leg. A 20-year-old Northlake man was shot in the foot and continues to be in â€œstableâ€ condition Monday morning, police said.
Police believe the shooting was gang-related but did not immediately have a description of the offenders or the vehicle involved in the shooting.
Northlake police are investigating.
