I Can Do It, My Mommie! Mini Waffles, Poppy

Today Emma turned 2. Where did the time go? Seems like yesterday she was not able to crawl or walk but was scooching around on her but–and boy could she scooch! She got a giant happy face balloon and a giant number 2 balloon. She loves her boons! And, the best was yet to come after dinner. The chocolate(Hatten) cupcakes with the white frosting were the perfect treat for a little princess. She made quite a mess.

Whoever coined the term “terrible twos” knew what they were talking about. The little stinker is truly an independent thinker. She wants to do things by herself now and lets us know it by saying, “No, Emma.” Whether it is eating or getting dressed/undressed she can do it. Today, while I was undressing her to change her diaper she automatically pulled down her pants and stepped out of them one foot at a time. See Daddy, I can do it!

Another thing that she has been doing lately is swatting at Mommy and me when she either gets mad or doesn’t want to do something. Now, we have been a bit concerned that our little angel was turning into a brat or that something may be wrong. After looking on the internet and speaking to other Moms we are a bit relieved to know that 2 year old toddlers may have a hitting problem. We have been working on it with her and it seems to have decreased a bit.

This morning I came out of the kitchen and saw Emma looking at the family pictures as she often does. She likes to look at everyone and say their names. That is except Jeremy who is known as the action of pressing her pointer finger down on her lower lip like he always does. Emma was staring intently at a picture and smiling a big smile. I stood there watching her when she turned to me and said, “Mommy.” The picture she was staring at was of her and Melissa. What a cutie! Yes, both of them!

Another food that has taken hold and is very easy and not unhealthy are Kelloggs Mini Waffles with Maple syrup flavoring already in it(Stay at home Dad tip). All you have to do is drop it in the toaster and then break the 4 mini waffles apart and serve. No syrup mess and very tasty as I have had my share of her leftovers.

While coloring today–she really likes to color–Emma was going through the colors when I showed her a gray one. She took it and looked at it for a few seconds then said, “Poppie’s hair.” Poppie is my Dad and he has gray hair. LOL. The things kids say! I like this format as it is a convenient way to get everything in the record because some of the things about Emma I am sure would be forgotten later in life. It is also a great way to let family members know more about us.
