Police officer fatally shot in Englewood on South Side
A Chicago police officer was shot and killed during an altercation outside a police building on the South Side, officials said. The suspect was shot and wounded by another officer, and taken into custody, sources said. The suspect was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Officials could not provide a condition for the suspect, but an official said he was stable. The officer was shot at about 3:50 p.m. at a police facility used to house special units, according to preliminary reports. The officer apparently was shot in the head. 34 Illegal Immigrants Caught Along Calif. Coast
Illegal immigrants have been caught entering San Diego County by sea more than 60 times since last October. SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The U.S. Border Patrol says two groups of seafaring, illegal immigrants have been caught coming ashore along Southern California’s coast — including 18 people who landed at the Marine Corps’ Camp Pendleton. U.S. Border Patrol agent Michael Jimenez says agents detained 16 Mexican citizens traveling in a skiff after they came ashore around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday near Leucadia. At least 4 dead, 12 wounded in holiday night violence
Happy 4th of July Chicago…. Sad state of affairs…. At least four people were left dead and 12 wounded in overnight shootings in Chicago, most on the South Side, officials said. The most recent homicide occurred at 5:06 a.m. this morning, when police said an unidentified man was found dead in the 7900 block of South Ingleside Avenue in the East Chatham neighborhood after being shot in the chest. No other information was available.
